Stéphane Cohat, nouveau Président d'Excelia Group

Nous avons le plaisir de vous annoncer que lors de l’Assemblée Générale du 8 mars dernier, Stéphane Cohat a été élu Président d’Excelia Group.

Stéphane Cohat succède ainsi à Robert Butel, qui a présidé notre groupe pendant 30 ans. Je tiens ici à le remercier pour son engagement à nos côtés durant toutes ces années.

Stéphane Cohat est un entrepreneur rochelais impliqué dans la vie de la cité. Après un parcours dans la grande distribution, Stéphane Cohat, 55 ans, reprend avec son épouse en 1994 la société GAILLARD, entreprise familiale rochelaise du secteur du textile. Il y développe un pôle immobilier spécialisé dans la location de biens commerciaux, industriels et d’habitation. Particulièrement actif au sein des institutions de la ville, il entre au bureau de la CCI en 2008 et devient Premier vice-Président de la chambre en 2016. Il a été le référent Port de pêche de La Rochelle, pendant plusieurs années. Il est juge au tribunal de commerce (procédures collectives) depuis 2015 et a été conseiller prudhommal de 2002 à 2008.

Notre Groupe a énormément progressé et a remporté de beaux succès ces dernières années, dont tout récemment les renouvellements de l’accréditation EPAS, du FLE et de Tedqual. Mais il doit aussi entreprendre une profonde réflexion pour répondre à l’évolution des besoins en formation et au nécessaire renouvellement de notre mission. Cette réflexion porte également sur notre rôle à participer à la valorisation des territoires, à accompagner les entreprises dans leur démarche d’innovation et à favoriser le partage des savoirs. Je me réjouis de la nomination de Stéphane Cohat, qui œuvrera à nos côtés pour relever ces défis.

Pour Stéphane Cohat : « Excelia s’affirme dans le paysage des business schools bien que jeune. Cette jeunesse est un atout pour faire face à demain. Les révolutions numériques et culturelles balaient nos préjugés et ce qui était écrit dans le marbre ne sera plus immuable. Les plateformes e-learning, l’intelligence artificielle, les réseaux bousculent notre monde et Excelia se doit de toujours anticiper les évènements pour mieux les appréhender.

Nos apprenants toujours plus reliés aux réseaux, dans un monde virevoltant, ont la tête dans les étoiles mais doivent garder les pieds sur terre, et le formidable programme Humacité sera toujours un parcours riche d’enseignements pour eux.

Notre école doit se renforcer et imposer sa stature entre Nantes et Bordeaux mais aussi, se renforcer à l’international en allant installer de nouveaux bureaux et accueillir de nouveaux étudiants étrangers. Renforcer les partenariats avec les entreprises locales et régionales pour mieux cerner leurs besoins et développer ainsi des formations nouvelles et adaptées. Tel sera notre challenge.

Stéphane Cohat takes over from Robert Butel who chaired our Group for some 30 years and I would like to sincerely thank him for his commitment to the Group throughout his time with us.

Stéphane Cohat is a La Rochelle entrepreneur, with strong ties to the city. After a career in the retail sector, Stéphane Cohat, now 55, together with his wife, took over GAILLARD, a La Rochelle-based family-owned company operating in the textile sector. There, he developed a real estate division specialising in the rental of commercial, industrial and residential property. He was an Industrial Tribunal Advisor from 2002 to 2008 and, as someone fully implicated in our city’s various organisations and institutions, he joined the Board of the CCI in 2008 and became First Vice-President of the Chamber in 2016. In addition, for several years, he was the main contact for La Rochelle’s Fishing Port and since 2015, he has been a judge for the Commercial Court (insolvency proceedings).

Our Group has already made tremendous progress and has achieved a number of great successes over the years with the most recent being our EPAS, FLE and Tedqual accreditation renewals. However, we must continue to evolve in response to changes in the world of education and be able to constantly adapt and update our role. This continual analysis also relates to our role in participating in the development of our local region, supporting companies in their innovation processes and promoting the sharing of knowledge.

It is therefore a great pleasure to announce the appointment of Stéphane Cohat and I look forward to us all working together to meet these challenges.

Stéphane Cohat comments: "Although still in its youth, Excelia has already asserted itself in the world of business schools, and this youth is an undeniable asset when facing the future. Today’s digital and cultural revolutions are forcing us to put our preconceived ideas to one side, and what was once written in stone will no longer be indelible. E-learning platforms, artificial intelligence and the multitude of networks are shaking our world and Excelia must always anticipate events in order to have a better understanding of them. In a constantly changing world, our increasingly connected learners may have their heads in the clouds but they also need to keep their feet firmly on the ground, and the impressive Humacité^© programme will always act as an enriching experience for them. Our school needs to grow in strength and assert its position between Nantes and Bordeaux, as well as developing its international dimension by creating new offices and welcoming more foreign students.

In addition, strengthening our partnerships with local and regional businesses will enable us to better identify their needs and thereby develop new and relevant programmes. This will be our challenge.

I would especially like to thank Robert Butel whose work, which covered some 25 years, enabled Sup de Co to become the Excelia Group of today."
